E-discovery goes global
The amount of information that is now stored on computers, laptops, PDAs and similar devices has resulted in the implementation of strict E-discovery legislations the world over. E-discovery which was a phenomenon once limited to USA (FRCP Rules 26 to 31) has expanded its reach globally. UK has well developed Disclosure requirements in place in the form of CPR Part 31. Canadian e-discovery procedures are regulated by Sedona Canadian principles. Australia has formulated Practice Note CM6. Singapore has become one of the first Asian countries to take to this E-discovery principle by enacting Practice Direction No. 3 for the same. Closely following Singapore, Hong Kong has also come up with Practice Direction 5.2 for discovery purposes.

One of our regular clients required us to do an accelerated foreign law research on an issue that had to be further drafted in the form of a memorandum along with a detailed research summary. With many impending cases, Client's attorneys were spending too much of time on searches that deviated them from concentrating on their core business. It was clear that the firm had to find a better way of getting things done. Trusting SunLexis’ advanced search ability, the client was able to meet the demand of its ultimate client, free its attorneys to concentrate on more productive work and reduce costs.
